Jeremiah Wenger Shreds Seven Escher Guitars with Swagger
Buckle up, guitar nerds! Jeremiah Wenger, the bluegrass and folk maestro from Red Thyme (and a slew of other killer bands), swung by Escher Guitars to wrangle seven of our finest Wayland Dreadnoughts. This guy’s got chops that’ll make your jaw drop, and he’s dishing out raw, unfiltered takes on each axe while laying down licks that hit like a freight train.
Here’s the lineup of guitars Jeremiah put through their paces:
"Maude Moore" - Sitka Spruce/Indian Rosewood: Big projection, punchy top and bottom, with a scooped midrange for that classic vibe.
"Bearclaw 1" - Sitka Spruce/Indian Rosewood: Tighter, with rich low-mids and an even, full-bodied tone.
"Bearclaw 2" - Sitka Spruce/Indian Rosewood: Slots between the first two, with a solid push and balanced grit.
"Sunburst 1" - Adirondack Spruce/Honduran Mahogany: Lighter in hand, darker in tone—perfect for intricate fingerpicking with super dynamic range.
"Sunburst 2" - Adirondack Spruce/Honduran Mahogany: Bolder bottom end, sparkling high-mids that sing.
"Jet Black" - Sitka Spruce/Maple: A stunner that’s tough to pin down but nails it as a versatile, all-around player.
"Cedar Top" - Western Red Cedar/Indian Rosewood: Piano-like timbre, killer high-mids, and low notes that beg to be played on repeat.
Jeremiah’s take? Each guitar’s got its own soul, shaped by the tonewoods. From the booming projection of Maude Moore to the fingerpicking finesse of Sunburst 1, he loved how they all brought something different to the table. He compared his live Martin OOO, which struggles to cut through on stage, to these dreadnoughts - and felt like they delivered the power he craves. The Cedar Top’s wound strings had him hooked, and Jet Black? Let’s just say it’s a looker and a player.
