Oh, He's a Lefthander...
My love for guitars began at four, with my mom’s "Zen-On" classical guitar. I would unleash sonic tornados–it was glorious chaos! Right around then, I remember hearing "I Am the Walrus", and crap, I knew I was up against some heavy competition. Man, those Beatles! Their records hit me like lightning bolts, and each member’s vibe? Total game-changers for the way I thought about creativity.
School? Pfft, I was all about music and art, where I learned that jumping in with both feet is the secret for unraveling mysteries. It was always sink or swim... That epiphany made me ballsier, ready to take risks and flip the bird at convention. College? Nah, I ditched that for a tech school in Arizona. Yeah, I was ready to draw my own path.
Fresh out of school, I snagged a gig as an illustrator in Chicago. Talk about a crash course in leveling up my craft, sharpening my hustle, and growing some actual adultness. Fast-forward a few years to Michigan, where I linked up with four ride-or-die buddies, and boom—The Huntunes were born. We poured our souls into it, built a legit fanbase, and tore up stages across the Midwest. Between shows, I’d haunt guitar shops and pawn stores like a gear-obsessed ghoul, adding to my ever-growing guitar stash.
Then came a night we opened for Cheap Trick. Freakin’ Rick Nielsen—guitar legend—tracked me down to geek out over my 1958 Flying V, a rare beauty he’d heard whispers about. That chat with Rick? Proof that guitars aren’t just instruments—they’re a way of life. Those years on stage fueled my obsession, pushing me to collect, restore, and eventually build guitars. Now I hang out where music, history, creativity and craftsmanship collide... with an occasional sip of Bourbon. Boom.
Rock on!
